#629...bathroom reading

I've been really busy with work lately, so not much exciting or creative has been happening around my house. I did install this magazine rack in my bath because I got sick of Tyler leaving magazines on the sink. Exciting stuff huh? (see this bath's before and after here,  and also here when it was featured in Better Homes and Gardens)

#628...hair hair everywhere

Lately, my hair has been both physically and psychologically weighing me down. Plus, the blond thing I did to it last year has overstayed its welcome and was tired and dried out. Yesterday, I finally had my hair appointment that I had been patiently waiting for for two weeks. (I had to lock up my hair scissors to keep myself from cutting it while waiting for my appointment).
I'm feeling lighter and hopefully new hair will energize me.

#627...laundry line

My dryer has been on the fritz, and in an effort to limp it along a little longer I put up a retractable clothes line across my back deck.
I needed a clothes pin receptacle, so this weekend I used a scrap of Japanese oil cloth to sew a flat bottom barrel bag to hold clothespins.

You can see other projects I've used oilcloth for here, here, here, here, here

#626...amalfi

We returned from our Itlay vacation one month ago today. I am still trying to hold on to the carefree feeling that accompanies a trip to Europe. One of the cities we sailed to was Amalfi. We pulled in to port late afternoon as the sun was beginning to dip nearing twilight. I keep looking back at these fairy-tale like photos we took of the coastline.

#625...large art gallery wall

Last week, I hung a large gallery art arrangement for my client Adrienne. Here are some shots of her blank wall which spans from her entry through her living room and into her kitchen.

...and here are a few after shots of the gallery art arrangement which I think really opened up and personalized her space.

To plan out the grouping I first arranged the art on the floor and took overall measurements of the wall and of the grouping.
Next, I decided where I wanted the middle of the grouping to hit on the wall and started hanging out from there. I find it very helpful to take reference photos of the grouping on the floor prior to hanging to be able to glance back at how the pieces related to each other in the arrangement. This is probably the most important step for me in successfully translating what is laid on the floor onto the wall. This grouping consists of  some photos and some art Adrienne made along with a nice collection of pieces by local Houstonian Matt Messinger.
